So just thinking about the Vryxnr build - looks to be a 15PAL, 4FTR, 1WIZ.
So the 1WIZ is for the improved mage armor and +10% AC, combine that with combat expertise for another +10%.
At least 4PAL is necessary to grab the tier 4 armor bonus in the paladin defender tree, and at least tier 4 in the stalwart defender tree, taking a tier 5 in either grants additional shield or armor bonus, I generally go with the fighter level for that, for me, I can see the value in 15 FTR 4PAL 1WIZ - for the feats. Would like to investigate alternatives and learn why Vryxnr went PAL over fighter was it for self heals? LOH?.
Also, with a tank build, CON is huge and STR would take up most of what's left on points, even DEX needs attention for dodge bonus through armor, and to get combat expertise an INT 13 is needed I think; so what kind of points should be reserved for WIS on a PAL tank build?

PS - why WF race? Dwarf tree gives heavy armor AC bonus and interesting possibilities with CON to dmg on dwarven axe etc, just wondering what the WF angle is.

lol

15 pally over 15 fighter is primarily for the spells and LoH. Self healing, healing others, and being able to rez others without having to swap to scrolls. There have been enough times where I was the only one standing, tanking several things at once, while passing out rezzes to the rest of the party that I felt it was worth it. I've also tanked KorKoza in Killing Time without a pocket healer (as the main group needed it more) and was fine thanks to being able to self heal with spells and LoH.

Also, Pally tier 5 Harbored by the Light (+25 prr and mrr) helps make up for the lack of fighter bonus feats (many of which would go to the armor line for additional prr and mrr, the first of which I already have with 4 fighter levels).

Bladeforged instead of dwarf is for a few reasons. All of the bladeforged immunities are sexy. Cloudkill? no problem. Poison traps on levers, no problem! Also, bladeforged come with an inherent -10% Slashing damage reduction. Furthermore, when you take Slashing damage, you gain +1 PRR for 3 seconds (up to +20 PRR). Bladeforged racial tree also has Brute Fighting (in game lists it as +75% more hate from melee attacks). It also has Communion of Scribing (repair version of heal plus haste in one). Plus, there is the simple convenience of being iconic (and thus starting at level 15 instead of 1), making it quicker to get into epics... which is where I want to be.

Also also, Dwarf has a -2 penalty to Charisma. Bladeforged do not (and both dwarf and bladeforged can start with 20 con, so even there). Yes, Con is priority. However, as an intimi-tank, Charisma is my second focus, not str. I'm fine with doing virtually 0 DPS, as my intimidates keep things on me regardless. Vryxnr is NOT a solo build (though when I first built him up, I soloed everything EE as reaper was not a thing yet, and was able to succeed simply due to being able to outlast everything, but it took much longer than most would be willing to take due to the low DPS).

For the other stats, I have tomes to take care of the min requirements of various feats and such.

One day VERY FAR into the future (after triple epic completionist is gained at least) I may consider changing into a dwarf, exchanging the toaster immunities and stacking situational PRR for the dwarf bonuses to HP and AC (but slightly less Cha)... but not atm.

I kept reworking this while at work but couldn't get it right until I got home. Thinking of going with this. Some questions though - does empower healing affect LOH? What kind of intim numbers am I aiming to hit to keep boss attentions?

This build is first lifer friendly.

Ok, at the moment, this is what I'm doing (at leastwhat I'm doing when I epic reinc. No idea if this is workable leveling up through heroics, as I was a very different build when initially leveling up, then with epic and some lesser hearts molded myself into the current tank).

I have 3 iconic PLS (bladeforged) which comes with 3 heroic PLs (paladin). All epic PLs are beneficial to tanks, but I'm very far behind on them atm (only 7 EPLS so far). The more EPLs you have, the better. (divine for PRR and saves, martial for AC and skills, primal for HP and regen, arcane for elemental absorb and spell cooldown or weapon enhancement bonus).

At the moment, my AC is around 340, my HP around 3,460 (with at least 1,000 temp HP every minute), my PRR varies between 310-350, my MRR varies between 220-240, my saves are between 87 and 114 before buffs, and my intimidate is 148 before buffs (like greater heroism, bard songs, etc), but is usually at 158+ (due to the eternal coffee I'm always drinking).

Race: Bladeforged (iconic)

Starting Stats (32 pts+)

Str: 8
Dex: 6
Con: 20 (all stat increases from levels go to Con)
Int: 8
Wis: 6
Cha: 18

If you have leftover points, put them into either dex for AC and reflex saves, or Int for skill points (or both).

As I'm willing and able to spend money on this account, I do have +8 tomes. Only +5 Int is required for feat pre-reqs. The order of the levels taken is mostly to make sure you have a 13 int from the tome before taking fighter bonus feats, so you have pre-reqs met.

Level 1: Paladin. Feat: Adamantine Body
Level 2: Paladin.
Level 3: Paladin. Feat: Shield Mastery
Level 4: Paladin.
Level 5: Paladin.
Level 6: Paladin. Feat: Force of Personality
Level 7: Wizard. Bonus Feat: Quicken Spell
Level 8: Paladin.
Level 9: Paladin. Feat: Shield Deflection
Level 10: Paladin.
Level 11: Paladin.
Level 12: Paladin. Feat: Skill Focus Intimidate
Level 13: Fighter. Bonus Feat: Combat Expertise
Level 14: Fighter. Bonus Feat: Heavy Armor Training
Level 15: Fighter. Feat: Bull Headed
Level 16: Fighter. Bonus Feat: Improved Shield Mastery
Level 17: Paladin.
Level 18: Paladin. Feat: Toughness
Level 19: Paladin.
Level 20: Paladin.
Level 21: Epic. Feat: Bulwark of Defence
Level 22: Epic.
Level 23: Epic.
Level 24: Epic. Feat: Epic Toughness
Level 25: Epic.
Level 26: Epic. Destiny Feat: Epic Skill Focus Intimidate
Level 27: Epic. Epic Reflexes
Level 28: Epic. Destiny Feat: Toughness
Level 29: Epic. Destiny Feat: Deific Warding
Level 30: Epic. Feat: Epic Damage Reduction. Legendary Feat: Scion of Celestia

For skills, MAX intimidate. After that, put at least 1 full rank into Use Magic Device. Then split the rest between heal and repair, with leftovers going into Bluff. You can do Balance as well, but actively blocking will prevent most knockdowns. Only put points into repair when it's a class skill (fighter, wizard) so you're not wasting points on half ranks. Likewise only add to heal with Paladin levels.

For Paladin spells...
Level 1: Protection from Evil, Repair Light, Cure Light
Level 2: Repair Moderate, Mass Repair Light
Level 3: Remove Curse, Resurrection
Level 4: Death Ward, Restoration

Active Epic Destiny is Unyielding Sentinel. Hers's a screenshot of what I have atm. This is not hard requirements, just what I found most useful based on the groups I tend to run with atm. The twists are so that I never fail a save even on a 1. Unearthly reactions I often swap for Energy Sheath: Electricity as needed.

For heroic Enhancements, here is another picture! Again, could be even more optimized, but given I have NO racial PLs atm, and the style of those I run with atm, this setup works for me for now.

Gear/Equipment

Head: LGS Triple Neg-Mat-Opp
Eyes: Legendary Feargaze (+8 Wis augment)
Neck: Necklace of Glib Tongue (+40 sonic resist augment)
Trinket: Legendary Cursebane Focus (+100% fortification augment)
Cloak: LGS Triple Pos-Mat-Opp
Belt: Legendary Plateshard Belt (Globe of True Imperial Blood augment)
Bracers: Legendary Bracers of hte Fallen Hero (+2 good luck augment)
Gloves: Legendary Gauntlets of Innate Arcanum (Draconic Soul Gem augment)
Boots: Legendary Flightfoor Greaves (+8 Dex augment)
Ring1: Legendary Cursebane Ring (+8 Protection augment)
Ring2: Legendary Five Rings: False Life +68, Resistance +14, Quality Intimidate +5, Tendon Slice 14 (+2 insightful Charisma augment)

Swap in gear: Belt: Skulldiggery Kit EE
Swap in gear: Ring: Legendary Ring of Flickering Steel

Armor: Legendary Heartwood (Golem's Heart augment)
Shield: Legendary Mirrorplate Tower Shield (+138 Reconstruct augment)
Weapon1: Legendary Vulkoor's Edge (+15 Bluff augment) (sentient: Grandfather's Shield 4 piece, To Hell and Back 3 piece)
Weapon2 (swap in for a few hits every minute): LGS Affirmation, triple Pos-Mat-Opp
Ranged Backup: Complete Thunderforged Alloy Throwing Axe (I should rebuild this to be better)

Misc items: Steel's Eternal Flask of Super Bold Blend, Planar Gird x 3, Wands of Blur, Heroic Greensteel Quarterstaves (displacement clickies), Potions of Invisibility, Scrolls of True Seeing, Scolls of Tenser's Transformation, Scrolls of Gust of Wind, Cursed Blade of Jack Jibbers, Gold Seal Elixirs of Sovereign Healing, Concentrated Elixirs of Superior Mnemonic Enhancement, Cannith Boots of Propulsion, +13 Blidning Warhammer of Everbright, Greater Harper Pin.

Conclusion: This is still a work in progress and has lots of room for improvement. My next step is epic completionist (EPL bonuses plus an extra twist of fate), then triple epic completionist (so many more EPL bonuses). After that, I may think about dwarf, as they can get higher HP, AC, and wear the full Shadow Knight Set... but also require more racial AP investment (racial PLs will help with that, but not sure I want to do that much grind atm).

It's interesting you guys are discussing this. I was just toying with the concept of a tank caster type, something along the lines of a favored soul 15 / pally 4 / wiz 1 build. I believe it would have an easy time soloing low reaper heroic. I was concerned regarding how it would perform in epic/leg reaper with I think the best damage option being AoE Shiradi. If anyone has feedback on how to get it more epic/leg viable I'm all ears.
